Artist's Description

Dakota KG587 of 48 Squadron attempts to drop wicker panniers bearing supplies to beleaguered Paratroopers on the ground during Operation Market Garden. Unfortunately, a great many of the drop zones were overrun by German troops, turning the low, slow Dakotas into target practice for crack Luftwaffe anti-aircraft units entrenched around Arnhem.

The artwork is a combination of 3d model built using the actual aircraft depicted for reference and digital painting. The entire project took some 6 months to complete.
